Continuing Expansion and Solidarity
WIB - began very informally in late-1974, as an outgrowth of a UCLA Extension Workshop. The WIB/Los Angeles chapter was incorporated in March, 1976.
The second chapter, formed in May, 1979, was WIB/Orange County, offering all the services available to women in Los Angeles plus economic collaboration among the two groups' members.
WIB/San Diego first met in September, 1980. In 1994, WIB/San Francisco became the fourth chapter.
With three viable chapters in operation, need for an innovative umbrella organization was apparent; discussions began in April, 1981, to form Women In Business/International, and were finalized when the original L.A. chapter permitted use of the "Women In Business" name to charter new and facilitate interaction among all chapters.
